What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Personal data, such as name, email address, personal account preferences; transactional data, such as purchase information and products you’ve viewed; and technical data, such as information about cookies.

Purchases

We collect information about you during the checkout process in our store. We use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site. We will use your name and email address for the purpose of contacting you to build your itinerary.

If you choose to purchase an Itinerary Plus Reservations and a tasting room/winery charges a tasting fee or deposit (large groups) in advance, we will contact you and you will be responsible for paying the tasting fee directly to the tasting room/winery to secure your reservation. Alternatively, we may provide your contact information to the wineries on your itinerary for the purpose of securing reservations.

When you purchase from us, we will ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

  • Send you information about your account and order
  • Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Set up your account for our store
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
  • If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

Posts/Reviews

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/ . After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Who we share your data with

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, both Administrators and Shop Managers can access:

  • Order information like what was purchased and when it was purchased and …
  • Customer information like your name, email address, and billing address.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

This website utilizes WooCommerce for online store functionality. The Woo Commerce Privacy Policy can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/ . We use Stripe as our online payment platform. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to Stripe, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information. This site utilizes Akismet as an anti-spam service. The information collected depends on how the User sets up Akismet for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself). How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We will retain purchase related information for up to five (5) years for tax, accounting and for itinerary development purposes.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

This site is backed-up daily on CodeGuard and Google Drive. Any personal data retained by or through the website is included in these backups. How we protect your data

This website uses multiple security products to protect your and our information. While no online service is 100% secure, we work very hard to protect information about you against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction, and take reasonable measures to do so.

If a data breech is suspected or detected, we would immediately notify you of the possibility that your information has been compromised.
