Deep Roots – Modern scions of old Walla Walla families and their wineries

$25.00

The current generations of some old Walla Walla families are trying their hand at winemaking.  This walking itinerary in downtown Walla Walla will introduce you to a few of them.

Description

This itinerary includes wineries established by fourth or fifth generation Walla Walla families.  These families settled in Walla Walla and farmed or otherwise supported the town in its growth for generations.

When the wine industry began to take off in the Valley, some of the farmers set aside a few acres of wheat, pea or alfalfa fields to see if viticulture could be profitable.  As time went by, members of these families embraced the creativity of winemaking as a way to represent this place that is their home.

This itinerary offers a chance to taste some wine and hear the history of some of the Valley’s long-time residents.
